Michael Doran joined as Director of Action Renewables in 2009, from Rural Generation where he was the Business Development Director. Michael is a Chartered Surveyor, having graduated from the University of Salford in 1978. He is the RICS representative on the Board of the Society for the Environment, and is a Past Chairman of the International Environment Faculty of the RICS. He is also a Chartered Environmentalist, a qualified Project Manager and a Member of the Institute of Directors. Michael is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the company and specialises in bioenergy, renewable energy policy development, and capacity building in developing countries.

Terry specializes in EU funding opportunities, and is currently managing five INTERREG IVc programmes including BATTERIE (www.batterie.eu.com) for which Action Renewables is the Lead Partner. Terry takes a lead role in the marketing aspects of the company, in tendering opportunities and in developing the Action Renewables Association. The  Association has over 25 company members, across a range of business sectors. Terry started work with Northern Ireland Electricity where he gained over twenty years experience of the energy industry before moving to Action Renewables. Most recently he was the Customer Relations Manager for NIE’s Transmission and Distribution business. Terry has a Batchelors Degree in Business and Finance, a Masters of Business Administration, and an Open University accreditation on Energy for a Sustainable Future.

Dawn Murphy joined the AR team as an Advisor and Community Information Officer in April 2006 providing renewable energy advice to householders and community groups. Dawn is now Project Manager for the MCS certification department of Action Renewables. She is also responsible for Quality Management and website development. Dawn previously worked as an environmental consultant and holds a masters degree in Environmental Management, is an associate member and registered environmental auditor with the Institute of Environmental Management and assessment. Nicola Murphy (nee Chang) was appointed as New Business Developer with Action Renewables in 2008. Previously Nicola has worked in the New Business sector within the media industry including the Telegraph Group in London. Most recently Nicola spent over 7 years working throughout the USA and Canada. Since joining Action Renewables she has been responsible for New Business, running and developing the Action Renewables Association as well as marketing and PR initiatives. Nicola has delivered on new business initiatives through successful networking as well as building on existing relationships in addition to promoting training, consultancy and seminar activities. In September 2012, Nicola set up the first All Party Group on Renewable Energy at Stormont.  Nicola holds a BA (Hons) in Business Administration, HND in International Business and NCFE Environmental awareness for Business and Industry. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Women in Business and is an active committee member on the Energy Institute in NI.  Nicola is also a director on the board of Action Renewables Energy Trading

Jonathan Buick is a Project Manager in Action Renewables. He has over ten years experience in energy and environmental consultancy, waste management and renewable energy technologies. Jonathan is an authority on government support measures for renewable energy, such as the Northern Ireland Renewables Obligation and the Feed-in Tariff in Great Britain. His technical and economic expertise in renewable energy spans all technologies, but particularly wind, anaerobic digestion and solar thermal, and this expertise has led to him providing training and advice to a wide range of stakeholders, from the farming sector in Northern Ireland to the Government of Azerbaijan. Jonathan has a MSc in Environmental Management and Policy and is a Chartered Scientist.

Laura Coey is Action Renewables’ Primary School Education Officer, she holds a Geography degree from Queens University of Belfast and a PGCE in Geography and Religious Education from University of Ulster, Coleraine. Laura has spent time working in both primary and post-primary schools in Northern Ireland. In addition to her local teaching experience, she has taught in Tajikistan and India. Laura has a keen interest in renewable energy and works with local primary schools to educate Key Stages 1 and 2 on the importance of trying to slow climate change through the use of renewable energy and by saving energy.

Annette Herty is Action Renewables’ Office Manager and has been with the company since 2006. Annette has a wealth of experience in team management and customer service. She previously worked with British Airways as Team Manager in both sales and customer service. Prior to this she provided clerical support for the headquarters of the Eastern Health & Social Services Board in Belfast.

Irene Robinson was appointed to the post of Accountant with Action Renewables in April 2007. She holds a BSc Hons Degree in Economics from University of Ulster, a Masters in Accounting, from Queens University Belfast and is a Chartered Accountant. She has over 15 years accounting experience in a variety of roles in public practice and industry. She also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management and Applications of IT in Accountancy from DCU.

Mick joined Action Renewables as a Project Manager in July 2011. Mick has previously worked in London and Belfast developing recycling focused social enterprise projects with community groups. Prior to working at Action Renewables he worked in the US on energy efficiency projects in the industrial, commercial and public sectors. At Action Renewables his work includes conducting wind and solar PV feasibility studies for commercial renewable energy projects, carrying out on-site wind monitoring data analysis and technical support, delivering green building and energy efficiency training, as well as carrying out domestic and commercial energy advice visits. Mick is the lead on an INTERREG project Action Renewables is a partner in called Social Enterprises in Community Renewable Energy (SECRE). Mick graduated from Queen’s University Belfast with a BSc Honours Degree in Geology and an MSc in Environmental Engineering.

Eimear O’Reilly joined the Action Renewables team as an Assistant Project Manager in September 2012. Her work includes client management and provides support to the owners of renewable energy technologies, guiding and assisting them through the complexity of the accreditation process for the Northern Ireland Renewables Obligation (NIRO). Eimear is also part of the MCS certification department of Action Renewables. She has previously worked in waste management as a scientific officer as part of the NIEA Land and Resource Management Unit and holds a masters degree in Environmental Management from Queens University Belfast.

Mark is a 3rd year University student studying a degree in renewable energy at the University of Ulster. He joined the Action Renewables team in August, 2012 as part of a work placement required by his course. Mark’s work at Action Renewables includes assisting with technical reports and feasibility studies as well as assisting in business development which includes organizing seminars and events.

Mark will return to University in September 2013 with the goal of completing his final year and securing a job in the field of engineering in the renewable energy sector. Mark is a keen musician and plays the accordion for a local band in Mayobridge.
