The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is an independent scheme that certifies microgeneration products and installers in accordance with consistent standards. It is designed to evaluate microgeneration products and installers against robust criteria providing greater protection for consumers.

The MCS is the only certification scheme to cover all microgeneration products and services, and has support from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, industry and non-governmental groups as a prime method for making a substantial contribution to cutting the UK’s dependency on fossil fuels. MCS has replaced the product and installer registration schemes (Clear Skies and PV programme). Click here to view the MCS website.

There are various certification bodies who offer the MCS certification services, all of which are listed on the MCS website. Action Renewables has recently achieved accreditation by UKAS (the United Kingdom Accreditation Service) to provide certification to installers of renewable energy systems in Northern Ireland/ROI. Please note however that Action Renewables will not be offering MCS certification services outside of Ireland.

Becoming MCS certified will involve a thorough assessment of the installer company including policies, procedures and an example installation.

Action Renewables is a UKAS accredited certification body No. 4359.
